Upholstery & Sofa Cleaning in Glasgow
Sofa, couch and upholstery cleaning across Glasgow. Three-seat sofa £70–£95, two-seat £45–£70, fabric and leather, dry in 2–4 hours. Call 07342 840056.
Three-seat sofa £70–£95 · £60 minimum call-out
Our professional sofa cleaning service in Glasgow is typically £45–£70 for a two-seat sofa, £70–£95 for a three-seat, £25–£40 an armchair and £95–£150 for a corner suite, with leather cleaned and conditioned at £30–£45 a seat. Those are guide ranges and your exact figure is confirmed free before booking. Fabric is cleaned by low-moisture hand-tool extraction so the foam and frame never get soaked, and a sofa is normally touch-dry in two to four hours. Book it alongside carpet cleaning and the upholstery is 10% off.
A sofa absorbs everything a carpet does and then some — body oils, food, pet dander, dust and whatever the kids were holding. The fabric looks fine from across the room and then you move a cushion and see the difference.
Our sofa cleaning service in Glasgow covers fabric and leather upholstery of every kind, whether you call it a sofa, a couch or a settee: sofas, corner suites, armchairs, recliners, dining chairs, headboards, footstools and office seating. Low-moisture extraction for fabric so nothing soaks the foam, and a separate clean-and-condition process for leather.
What makes it a professional sofa cleaning rather than a hired machine run over the cushions is the sequence: identify the fabric, test an unseen panel, choose the method the manufacturer's code allows, then clean with a hand tool that recovers almost everything it puts in. Those four steps are the difference between a sofa that is clean in two hours and one that is damp for two days.
Fabric upholstery cleaning
We check the manufacturer's cleaning code first (W, S, WS or X), test for colour-fastness, then use a hand tool with controlled moisture and immediate extraction. Foam and frame stay dry, the fabric comes up clean, and a sofa is normally touch-dry in two to four hours.
Cotton, linen, chenille, velvet, microfibre and most synthetic blends are all fine. Anything marked X is dry-clean only — we use a solvent-free dry compound method for those.
Leather cleaning and conditioning
Leather needs cleaning, not extraction. We remove body oils and surface soil with a pH-correct leather cleaner, then apply a conditioner that restores suppleness and slows cracking at the seams and arm tops — which is always where leather fails first.

What a professional sofa cleaning service actually includes
Worth setting out plainly, because "sofa cleaning" covers everything from a man with a hired machine to what we do.
- Fabric identification and a colour-fastness test on an unseen panel, before anything wet touches a visible surface
- A high-filtration vacuum pass including down the sides and under the cushions, which is where most of the grit actually is
- Pre-treatment on the heavy areas — arm tops, headrests and the front edge of the seat, where body oils concentrate
- Hand-tool extraction with controlled moisture, so the fabric is cleaned and the foam and frame stay dry
- Individual spot treatment on stains, and an enzyme stage where there is pet odour
- Cushions done on both sides, not just the face you can see
- Air movers left running so it is touch-dry in two to four hours rather than overnight
- The re-clean guarantee — if any area is not right, we come back within 48 hours, free
All of that is included in the price for the piece. There is no premium tier and no separate charge for the stain treatment or the deodoriser, which is where a cheap headline figure usually turns into a bigger invoice.
Find the cleaning code on your sofa before anyone touches it
Every piece of upholstery made in the last few decades carries a manufacturer's cleaning code on a label, usually under a seat cushion or stapled beneath the frame. It is a single letter and it decides the entire method. Getting it wrong is how a sofa ends up with a permanent water ring or a shrunken cushion cover.
| Code | What it means | What we do |
|---|---|---|
| W | Water-based cleaning is safe | Low-moisture hot water extraction with a hand tool |
| S | Solvent only — water will mark it | Dry solvent cleaning, no water at any stage |
| WS | Either is safe | We choose on the fibre and the soiling level |
| X | Vacuum only — no liquid of any kind | Solvent-free dry compound method |
If the label is missing or illegible — common on older and second-hand furniture — we identify the fibre and test an unseen panel instead. We never guess, and we will tell you if a piece is one we would rather not take on.
Fabric by fabric: what actually happens to each one
Cotton and linen. Natural, absorbent and prone to shrinking and browning if over-wetted. Controlled moisture, immediate extraction, forced drying. These are the fabrics most often ruined by a hired machine.
Velvet and chenille. The risk is pile distortion rather than the cleaning itself — the nap can be crushed or left lying the wrong way, which looks like a stain from across the room. We clean with the nap and groom it back afterwards.
Microfibre and suedette. Cleans beautifully and dries fast, but water-spots readily if a section is cleaned and left to dry on its own. We work a whole panel at a time, never a patch.
Polyester, acrylic and synthetic blends. The most forgiving upholstery there is. Tolerates full extraction and shows the biggest visible improvement of anything we clean.
Wool and wool blends. Alkaline-sensitive like wool carpet. pH-balanced product, controlled moisture, no exceptions.
Viscose, rayon and 'art silk'. The hardest fibre in the house. It loses strength when wet and the pile distorts permanently. Solvent or dry-compound only, and we will say honestly if a viscose piece is already past helping.
Leather: aniline, semi-aniline, pigmented and bonded
Leather is not one material and the four types need genuinely different handling. Pigmented leather — the most common on family sofas — has a protective surface coating and cleans up robustly. Semi-aniline has a light coating and needs a gentler touch. Aniline is unprotected, absorbs everything, and shows every mark; it is cleaned sparingly and conditioned carefully. Bonded leather is a thin layer over a fabric backing and will eventually peel whatever anyone does — we will tell you that before taking the booking rather than after.
Every leather clean finishes with conditioning. Cleaning strips the natural oils, and leather that is cleaned but not fed is leather that starts cracking along the front edge of the seat cushion within a year or two. A firm that cleans leather and does not condition it afterwards is doing half the job.
What sofa cleaning will not fix
Being straight about this saves everyone a wasted visit. Cleaning does not fix: sun-faded fabric where the dye has gone, pilling and bobbling (that is fibre wear), foam cushions that have collapsed and lost their shape, split seams or frame damage, bleach marks, or ink and dye transfer that has already bonded to the fibre. It will also not make a twenty-year-old sofa look new — it will make it clean, which is a different thing.
What it does fix, reliably: body oils and head-grease on the back and arm tops, food and drink spills, general grey soiling across the seats, pet smell and dander, dust-mite load, and that line of darker fabric where everyone sits.
Sofa cleaning Glasgow-wide, including tenements and upper flats
We do sofa cleaning Glasgow-wide, and a good deal of that work is in tenement flats, so the practical questions come up a lot. We do not need to take the sofa anywhere — it is cleaned in your living room. We do not need the van outside the door; our hand tools run from a portable unit that comes up the stair. We do need about half a metre of clear space behind and around the piece, and we will move it back against the wall when we are done.
Dry time is two to four hours with a window on the vent setting. On a top-floor flat in winter we will leave an air mover running rather than tell you it will be fine by morning.
